I once took in a lecture where a scientist was presenting her team’s research. At the end of the presentation there were pictures of her team-members, each a photograph that the person had submitted themselves. Each picture showed a person outdoors: sailing, hiking, climbing mountains or cliffs or castles or trees. And each person, it was known, spent the majority of their waking hours in a lab.

I found this the most interesting portion of the presentation. The sample size was small and not randomly selected, but that the p-value was significant was clear to all.

Clearly, more research needs to be done.
